No one human being is alike, and God made us this way. Can you imagine life if we all liked the same thing? Wow. How boring\u00a0would that be? Even though it would be nice sometimes if my wife liked more of what I liked. You know, cold temperatures as opposed to warm. Tarheels instead of Duke (Pray for her). A good cheeseburger versus Mexican food. Yes, you guessed it. We are the opposite of each other. If I choose one, she will normally choose the other. As the saying goes, opposites really do attract. Despite her not liking Mountain Dew, the drink of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and my mansion swimming pool in Heaven, I still enjoy my time with her. And the more we are together the more time I want to spend with her.<\/p><p>These relationships are similar like the one we have with God. You know we truly in a lot of ways are the opposite of God. We have so much sin in our life and God does not. Our flesh wants to run toward this sin, and it is only the Holy Spirit that tries to hold us back. And repeatedly we fail to meet the standards that God has for us. We live in this imperfect world in an imperfect body just trying to stay on track. And even though we are the opposite of God the relationship just works.<\/p><p>But I wonder if somewhere along the line we become accustomed to just going through the motions with God. Two ways we meet with God. Through the reading of our Bible, this is God speaking to us. And then through prayer, this is us speaking to God. But do we really meet with Him? In the verses above we see God having a personal relationship with Adam. God would come around every afternoon just to walk with Adam and have fellowship. There was a time and a place. And when this was broken because of the shame of Adams&#8217; sin God thought enough about this to put it in the Bible. Adam was there but he was not. This story reminds me of the times I have\u00a0prayed but was not really in the moment. Those times when I knew I needed to pray but just did not take much time when I did pray. My mind was somewhere else. Or just so overwhelmed with the schedule. Sounds familiar?<\/p><p>Lately, I have tried to change my prayer life. I want it to be my time with God that nothing else can invade, impede, or take control over. I want my prayer with God to be the most important thing in my life at that time. Our time. One of the things I have done is set my alarm on my phone every day to go off and remind me that it is my time to talk to God. I want to be just like Adam when he has a place and time to meet. And for that moment I want God to have my full attention. I can tell you that it has turned a prayer life that sometimes got stagnant into a more enjoyable time with our God.<\/p><p>I wonder if today your prayer life is not what it once was. Do you enjoy praying?
